Inside an aluminum cylindrical vessel, sand is packed between a top spring, a top spacer and a bottom spacer. The pores inside the spacers and the sand resemble a porous medium with bimodal pore size distribution (large pores in spacers, small pores in sand). Xenon hydrate forms from xenon gas and 10 wt% NaBr brine.
T= 23 C, P_initial = 3.72 MPa, P_initial_equilibrium =1.75 MPa. The image stack is taken with X-ray uCT after 4 days of hydrate growth. Resolution = 48.92 micrometer.
Images with small indices are on the top.
At the end, there is a raw dataset that includes the whole image stack. The raw dataset is located at the end of all individual images.
The materials in the images ranking from the largest grayscale number to the smallest are: stainless steel, xenon hydrate, xenon gas, aluminum, sand (similar to aluminum) and spacer.
