Digitalized natural rock fracture of Inada Granite

Simulated aperture distribution of smooth fracture Analysis Data

Simulated aperture distribution of the smooth fracture. A series of images (720 x 480) shows transient changes of heterogeneous distribution of the aperture as it closes. Color indicates the aperture value: lower limit (0 mm) is represented by blue, meaning asperity contacts (nearly-zero aperture) whereas upper limit (1 mm) is represented by yellow, meaning open spaces (non-zero aperture).
